Three asylum seekers who raped woman on Brighton beach handed lengthy sentences

  • Asylum seekers Ibrahim Alshafe, 26, and Abdulla Ahmadi, 26, have been sentenced to 21 years in prison each for raping a woman on Brighton beach on 4 October 2025.
  • Karin Al-Danasurt, 21, who filmed the attack, received a sentence of 18 years and six months in prison; all three will serve an additional six years on extended licence.
  • The court heard the woman was targeted and incapacitated after becoming separated from her friends on a night out, with Alshafe and Ahmadi committing the rape while Al-Danasurt filmed the incident.
  • Alshafe and Ahmadi were found guilty of two counts of rape, while Al-Danasurt was convicted of four counts of rape as a secondary party, following a five-week trial at Hove Crown Court .
  • The victim delivered a powerful impact statement, describing how the men 'destroyed my life' and 'violated me in every way,' with the judge condemning the attack as 'entirely predatory and callous.'
