KOCHI: Shaj Kiran, who allegedly threatened Swapna Suresh to withdraw the statement given under section 164 of the CrPC, and his friend Ibrayi have approached the Kerala high court seeking anticipatory bails.
Shaj Kiran, who hails from Kottarakkara, and Ibrayi, a native of Wayanad, said in the plea that they fear that they would be arrested by the police on the basis of the statement of Swapna that they threatened her.
As per the plea, a case has been registered by police against the bail applicants on the basis of Swapna’s statement and the release of audio recording of the conversation between them.
They have contended that a friendly talk with Swapna was released as part of a conspiracy to trap them in a case.
This is part of a greater conspiracy against the government and a complaint has been filed before the state police chief seeking a probe, the petition said.
Shaj has claimed in the plea that he has some health issues.
Meanwhile, advocate Krishna Raj R, who is representing Swapna before the high court, has also filed an anticipatory bail in the case registered against him for allegedly hurting religious sentiments.
He has contended in the bail plea that the case was registered so as to prevent him from representing Swapna.
