As the centre of Storm Eunice makes its way across the southwest of Ireland, there are thousands of homes without power.
The worst-hit counties for outages at this point are Cork and Kerry with gusts of up to 130kmh being reported in some areas on Friday morning.
Heavy rain has also begun to bash the south of Ireland as the severe weather conditions are due to make their way across the country later today. Follow live updates in our blog.
According to ESB Networks, there are 2,166 customers that have been hit by power cuts near Cahersiveen in Co Kerry, with 1,193 affected in Glengarriff, Co Cork.
Crews are working to restore power in the affected areas, and it is likely there will be further outages as this storm ramps up.
More than 500 people in Birr, Co. Offaly are also without power, but the issue is due to be resolved by midday.
Nearly 200 people in Achill will be waking to no electricity this morning, however, powercheck has estimated an 8:45 am return.
Power outages have also been reported in Waterford, Donegal, Wexford, and Roscommon.
Winds of over 154kmh have been recorded off the coast of Ireland, and although this speed will not reach land, people are still being warned to expect up to 130kmh gusts today.
With more powercuts likely throughout the day, the ESB warns: “Our crews work to restore electricity to affected areas as soon as is safely possible following severe weather.
“That means that in severe storms, work may not begin immediately.
“Whatever the conditions, we will make every effort to give you as much information as possible, including when you can expect your electricity service to be restored.”
