Thousands of people will descend on Bootle for two days in June

Thousands of people will descend on one area of Merseyside this year for a two-day music festival.

The Bootle Music Festival will run over two days starting on Friday, June 9, and will see a host of acts take to the stage. Coming into the sixth year of the festival, organisers expect it to be the largest turnout yet.

The event is run by community pub the Lock & Quay and all profits from the festival will be re-invested back into the local area. The festival has just announced its star-studded line-up that includes The Farm and headlining act The Zutons.

Manager of the Lock & Quay, Liz Bromilow, told the ECHO: "It just gets a little bit bigger every year and this will be the best one so far. It started in 2017 in the beer garden at the back of the pub and has grown into what it is now.

"We have a massive stage at the back of the pub in the field and all the local residents will get free tickets. We want to give Bootle something that it might not ordinarily get or people in the area might not be able to afford."

Tickets range in price from £45 for a full weekend pass to £30 for a one-day pass. In 2017 SAFE, a Bootle-based regeneration charity, organised a major refurbishment of the pub rebranding it as the Lock & Quay.

Liz said: "Any profits made will go into the re-generation of Bootle and knowing that makes us work really hard. It is always a brilliant weekend and there is lots to do for families. It is also such good value for money and will be the biggest year yet."
