Thousands of fans gather outside Murrayfield ahead of Taylor Swift concert

THOUSANDS of Taylor Swift fans have gathered outside Murrayfield Stadium ahead of the pop star's first concert in Edinburgh.

The singer is bringing her Eras Tour to the capital for three consecutive shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

While the doors to the stadium don't open for general admission ticket holders until 4pm, by 11am thousands of fans had already made their way to Murrayfield to buy merch and soak up the atmosphere.

"I'm quite nervous," said Erin, a 24-year-old from Aberdeen.

"I can't wait for the Tortured Poets Department Sections, it just looks incredible from what I've seen online.

"We're only staying in Edinburgh tonight but we actually managed to get tickets for tomorrow as well.

"But we will be travelling back to Aberdeen tomorrow because the price for accommodation is insane!"

Other fans have travelled from much further afield just to attend the Edinburgh show.

Sara, 26, from Norway had her suitcases in tow as she queued for merch in the pouring rain.

"I can't wait just to feel the amazing atmosphere and hear all the songs live that I've seen on TikTok for like a year and a half," she told The National.

"We haven't even checked-in to our hotel yet but we'll be back for Sunday night's show."

While Kenneth, 29, came from Beijing in China.

"We're here until Tuesday but I wish we could stay longer," he said.

"Edinburgh is a very beautiful city even with the rain".

It's expected that more than 200,000 fans will attend Swift's Eras Tour over the weekend, with local authorities reminding attendees to make travel arrangements in advance.
