Over 2,200 patients spent more than 12 hours waiting to be treated by doctors at Lancashire A&E departments in one month.
In April Southport and Ormskirk hospitals recorded 201 patients being left for over 12 hours. While half of those people (928) were in Blackpool, A&E patients waiting at hospitals run by East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust accounted for a further 771. Some 257 of those patients waited longer than half a day in A&E at Morecambe with another 131 patients left waiting for more than half a day at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
In total of 2,288 patients waited more than 12 hours for help according to the latest NHS data Lancs Live reports. It comes as a new report claims more than 1,000 patients are spending longer than 12 hours in A&E departments every day across the country.
