A large part of a Merseyside town has been left without power after an outage hit.
People living in Birkdale, and other parts of Southport, have been left without electric after Scottish Power confirmed there was an outage in the town this afternoon. Posting on its website, Scottish Power said: "There is a power cut affecting the PR8 postcode area of Southport.
"We had no advance warning of this and first became aware of it at 1:48 pm. Our control centre will attempt to restore your electricity supply remotely, and we will also send our next available engineers to the area, to find and fix the fault, as quickly and as safely as possible. We expect the power to be restored by 4pm.
