If you watched Sunday’s Los Angeles Chargers game against the Miami Dolphins, you might’ve noticed some robotic football fans in the stands.
Well, that’s because there were actual “AI robots” cheering on the Chargers at SoFi Stadium.
The bots in question were there to help promote the upcoming sci-fi action film The Creator, directed by Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘s Gareth Edwards and starring Tenet‘s John David Washington. The film pits Earth’s citizens against a rampant AI force that threatens to destroy humanity as we know it.
However, we’re guessing some Chargers fans wouldn’t have minded for those AI bots to jump on the field to help Los Angeles get the win against the Dolphins. Maybe the robots could’ve slowed down Tua Tagovailoa?

In any case, this piece of cybernetic viral marketing undoubtedly earned some double takes on Sunday, and maybe it’ll even encourage folks to go check out The Creator when it hits theaters on Sept. 29.
However, we really hope we don’t see one of those robots next to us when we go to sit down for our IMAX showing once the movie comes out. That might be a bit much.
