Chelsea could miss out on millions next summer after Todd Boehly decided to sack Thomas Tuchel. This is according to Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta, who has said that the German's exit could open the door for Romelu Lukaku to return to Stamford Bridge.
The Belgium international was heavily linked with a permanent exit from Stamford Bridge this summer after falling out of favour under Tuchel. Lukaku struggled to acclimatise to the Premier League following a £97.5million move and time under the German soon ran out which often saw him relegated to the sidelines.
However, due to Inter Milan's spending restrictions amid Financial Fair Play concerns, the Italian giants were not willing to meet the Blues' asking price and sign the 29-year-old outright. Instead, the Nerazzurri opted for a season-long loan and Chelsea negotiated a fee to be paid for Lukaku's services.

The general consensus among supporters was that the Belgian would then seek a permanent move to Inter once his loan was up if Tuchel was still in the dugout. But, with the German out of the picture and Graham Potter's plans for Lukaku unknown, doubt has been cast over where the striker's future lies, potentially costing Chelsea millions if he isn't sold.
"It's fresh news. I don't know what the effects of the change of coach will be [for Lukaku's future]," Marotta told Sky Sport, as quoted by SportsMole. "We want to get the best performance out of Lukaku, and then at the end of the season we will sit down and talk about him with Chelsea. I don't know if a change of coach means that his return is automatic, it's difficult to predict today."
Speaking to DAZN Italia last month, the £60.7million-rated striker revealed that there was anger inside of him upon his exit. He also admitted that he doesn't see his situation at Chelsea improving.
"The season at Chelsea gave me extra motivation to do even better than before," Lukaku said. "I think in a year people have forgotten what I can do on the pitch. This is a kind of anger that I have inside of me.
"When I left I had in mind to get a rematch with Chelsea. When I was young I was at Chelsea for eleven years and I wanted to come back to be a protagonist.
"After the last game I started thinking about what the best situation was for me. The season for me at Chelsea was difficult and I think things would not improve in the future and so I decided to come back here."
