Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is open to the idea of replacing Gareth Southgate as England manager after he was sacked at Stamford Bridge, according to a report from the Telegraph. The current Three Lions boss has been under pressure in recent months after the national team struggled through a Nations League campaign that saw them relegated to League B.
The FA have stuck with Southgate, with the World Cup just one month away during an unusual mid-season break due to it being hosted in Qatar. The tournament could be the real litmus test for the manager, who insisted last week that he is planning to be in charge for Euro 2024.
The 52-year-old has claimed that he won't outstay his welcome at the post though, and has also admitted that poor results in Qatar next month could force him out of a job. That is despite his previous tournament performances, having helped the nation reach a World Cup semi-final and a European Championships final in his six years in charge.

Should he leave, the door could open for Tuchel, who is said to be keen to take the job as head coach but is yet to make an immediate move for the position. The former Chelsea boss was dismissed from his role at Stamford Bridge in September, with the new owner's vision seemingly not aligning with his.
The German coach won the Champions League and reached several finals in a short time in London but is said to be stuck in limbo over his visa in England, with post-Brexit rules dictating that he may have to move out of the country after losing his role. Taking the national hot seat would change that though, with the 49-year-old still waiting on the perfect challenge.
With that being the case, Tuchel has turned down two potential job offers in England and one in Spain, keeping his options open over his future. Having already worked with a number of the England players in his time at Chelsea, it remains to be seen if he will reunite with any of them as a potential national team manager.
