Ian Maatsen has not been named in the Chelsea squad that travels out to the USA tomorrow for the club's pre-season training camp in Los Angeles, football.london understands.
The Blues will spend two weeks stateside as Thomas Tuchel and his players step up their preparations for the 2022/23 campaign. In addition to their work in LA – which will be undertaken at the University of California – Chelsea will play matches against Club America in Las Vegas, Charlotte FC in Charlotte, and Arsenal in Orlando.
Tuchel will be working with his full squad for the first time in the coming days, with the players who represented their countries last month in the Nations League set to return for pre-season training in Los Angeles. And they are expected to be joined by Raheem Sterling, whose move to Stamford Bridge from Man City is close to completion.

Maatsen has been in training this week alongside the first-team players not selected for international duty, a handful of other returning loanees, and players from the club's academy sides. There was an expectation he would both be given an opportunity to impress Tuchel in the U.S.
However, as things stand, the Dutchman is not part of the travelling squad that departs tomorrow afternoon and will instead continue his pre-season work in the UK.
The 20-year-old was on loan in the Championship last term with Coventry City. He played 42 games in all competitions for the Sky Blues and was named the club's Young Player of the Year.
The Netherlands Under-21 international has turned down a move to Feyenoord this summer and football.london understands Premier League sides have shown interest in the 20-year-old.
