Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has taken his new Brazilian girlfriend away on holiday, just days after the divorce from his wife moved a step closer to completion.
Tuchel separated from his wife Sissi back in April after their marriage of 13 years broke down. The couple, who have two daughters together, are still in the process of completing their divorce, which has been granted at London’s High Court but is awaiting a multi-million pound settlement.
The 48-year-old Blues boss has already moved on and was pictured this week enjoying a holiday with his new partner, Natalie Max, in Sardinia. The Sun reports that the happy couple are staying in a £20,000-a-night private villa on the Mediterranean island and were spotted on a sunset boat trip together.
Tuchel and his girlfriend relaxed on the beach, went swimming and ate lunch in a hotel restaurant before getting a boat to the island of Caprera. A source told the Sun that the duo “held hands at every opportunity”, while another remarked that they look “very much in love”.
Max is a Brazilian mum-of-two who, at 35 years old, is 13 years Tuchel’s junior. The London-based business owner once featured on the Yummy Mummy UK website, where she was described as a “mum who rocks” and “a real inspiration”.
Tuchel flew straight out to Sardinia after returning from Chelsea ’s pre-season tour of the USA. The German is currently experiencing a stressful time, with new owner Todd Boehly desperately trying to strengthen the team’s squad ahead of the start of the Premier League season next weekend.
Tuchel’s personal life has also been quite complicated since the announcement of his split from Sissi nearly four months ago. Court documents show that the 46-year-old, who was a journalist by trade, petitioned for divorce on the grounds of irreconcilable differences.
Last week she got confirmation from Mr Justice Mostyn that Tuchel had behaved in such a way that Mrs Tuchel could not reasonably be expected to stay with him. Sissi moved to the UK last August – several months after Tuchel got the Chelsea job in January 2021 – and the couple bought a house together near the club’s training ground in Cobham, Surrey.
However, the move did not work out. The marriage was said to have broken down irretrievably, prompting a multi-million pound settlement, which will go through in the next six weeks. Sissi reportedly quit her job at German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung to bring up their family and could be due a major payout, given Tuchel earns around £7million per year.
Tuchel’s holiday with his new girlfriend will not last long. Chelsea, who suffered a 4-0 defeat by Arsenal in Florida on the weekend, are due in Italy to face Udinese in a pre-season friendly on Friday before beginning their Premier League campaign against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, August 6.
