Thomas Muller makes Mohamed Salah claim after FIFA decision

Liverpool's Mohamed Salah deserved to be named in the FIFA FIFPro World XI, says Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller.

The Egyptian was excluded from the line-up that was revealed at the Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony last month.

The men's World11 included the likes of Erling Haaland, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski - but there was no room for Salah.

Muller, who has made over 600 appearances for Bayern, says it was 'disappointing' that the Liverpool winger didn't make the cut.

“It’s always difficult to choose fairly these teams because everyone has slightly different views,” Muller told MBC Masr TV [ via Filgoal ].

"Mohamed Salah is in great form at the moment and is appreciated by everyone. It's disappointing that he was not chosen in the World XI, and this may be due to the Euros being played last summer.

"The Euros are of great importance and of course you will find players from Italy [the champions] in the formation.

“It’s a combination of individual and collective success. Usually 20 players can be selected and only four or five of them are worthy. But Salah deserved to be in the formation."

Salah has become widely recognised as one of the best players on the planet at the moment and he's already scored 24 goals in all competitions for the Reds so far this season.

The Liverpool ace was one of few standout performers for the club last season as they secured a third place finish in the Premier League behind Manchester City and Manchester United.
