Thomas Muller issues savage Erling Haaland response when asked about Bayern Munich transfer

Thomas Muller looks to be against the idea of one day lining up alongside Erling Haaland at Bayern Munich.. at least according to his latest remarks on the Norwegian superstar.

Haaland is one of the most in-demand strikers in world football with a lengthy list of potential suitors all desperate to pry him away from the Westfalenstadion later this year.

However, Muller is one of the few who it appears is not that crazy over the 21-year-old, last year's Bundesliga Player of the Season, despite his outstanding goal record.

While speaking to German outlet Bild, Muller was grilled over his thoughts on potentially "feeding" Haaland with plenty of assists as a potential teammate.

The Bayern fan-favourite simply replied: "I prefer to feed my horses and rabbits."

His comments come as somewhat of a surprise given Bayern's recent monopoly on the best Bundesliga talent and how Haaland has shone in Germany.

More often than not, if a player is lighting up the division in the colours of another side, it does not take long for Bayern to declare their interest and, almost inevitably, secure his signature.

Reports have suggested something similar may happen with Haaland, although Bayern would have to fend off interest from just about every other major European outfit if they are to sign the Norway international.

That question is complicated due to questions over the long-term future of a player Muller enjoys a strong relationship with on and off the pitch, Robert Lewandowski.

The Poland international's current Bayern contract expires at the end of next season and while those at the top of the club's hierarchy are desperate to extend his stay, they're also looking at how best to eventually replace the 33-year-old, which inevitably leads them to Haaland.

Manchester City have long been the most likely Premier League outfit to entice Haaland to England, although Manchester United may have added confidence they can strike a deal now Ralf Rangnick is at the helm, albeit on an interim basis.

Rangnick has a good relationship with Erling's father Alf-Inge after his son's time at RB Salzburg where the current United boss helped facilitate Haaland's move from RB Salzburg to Dortmund.

The Red Devils manager already had to field questions over a potential move for Haaland during his first press conference back in December.

"I know what kind of player he [Erling Haaland] is — the whole world has realised how good the player is," Rangnick explained.

"The offensive players we have here, we have so many top players in the offensive department that we don't need to speak about any other player."
