Thomas Frank has addressed the resurfaced video of Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas mocking Brentford that was produced following Leeds United’s promotion to the Premier League. Ivan Toney dug out the video earlier in the week and tweeted ‘Hmm’ in response as he alluded to the teams’ respective positions in the table.
The video in question involved the two Whites stars singing ‘Mind the gap, Thomas Frank’ as they held the Championship trophy. After the Bees were able to bounce back from the 2020/21 disappointment with play-off triumph last season, they have ensured they will be playing in the top flight again next season.
Given Leeds’ perilous position in the table, Toney was keen to remind the Leeds fans and players of their over-confidence almost two years ago. Frank was then asked - in his pre-match press conference ahead of Brentford’s clash with Everton - whether he was aware of the video.

It transpired that the Bees manager had seen it but claimed it was ‘all good fun’ and asked to be reminded of it again in the build-up to the huge match between the teams on the final day of the season. That game is likely to have massive implications for Leeds, whatever the result.
Regardless of what happens this weekend, ahead of that final-day showdown, Jesse Marsch’s side will need a win at the Brentford Community Stadium. It gives the hosts extra motivation for a game that holds little value for them other than pride and the desire to sign off their maiden Premier League campaign with a victory.
With Toney aware of the video, it is very likely his team mates will either have already been shown or will be shown before next weekend’s clash. Frank is also clearly keen to be reminded of it prior to the visit of Leeds to West London.
If nothing else, it will certainly add an extra edge to the match even though Dallas definitely won’t be involved and Cooper might not be either.
