This year's Celtic Masters shirt turns back the clock 30 years with retro vibes

The Scottish Masters 6-a-side tournament kicks off this evening, wherein Celtic, Aberdeen, Dundee United and Rangers will compete at the P&J Live Arena in Aberdeen.

Celtic won the tournament last year, beating Hibs 5-2 in the final, after which former Parkhead striker Gary Hooper was awarded the competition's Golden Boot.

Captained by Stiliyan Petrov, this year's Celtic team is as follows:

Celtic

Michael McGovern, Darren O’Dea, Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley, Stiliyan Petrov (c), Scott Brown, Simon Donnelly, and Gary Hooper.

And as teased above, the kit these club greats will wear (via Moving Forward Sports) is a throwback to the 1995-1997 Celtic home shirt – Donnelly being the only player from that crop of players to have worn the real thing at the time.

Last year, the Celtic Masters kit riffed on the back and lime green Celtic away kit of 1998-2000 (first with Umbro as the main sponsor; latterly with NTL), which is remembered less fondly given the club's status and period of pre-Martin O'Neill transition at the time.
