This Tiny Organizing Detail Is Making My Countertops Look Instantly More Expensive – And It’s Only $9

Dark green kitchen cabinets with a dark wood counter. Various kitchen counter clutter on the surface, such as a kettle and food storage containers.

No matter the size of your kitchen, cluttered countertops can quickly make the space feel chaotic – far from the calm, functional environment you want for cooking and hosting. One of the biggest offenders? Messy appliance cords, which can instantly make even a beautifully designed kitchen feel untidy.

While the obvious solution is to store appliances away to organize a kitchen, that isn't always practical for everyday essentials or smaller kitchens with limited storage.

These stick-on cord organizers from Amazon are the perfect solution, keeping loose cables neatly contained for a cleaner worktop, without sacrificing convenience.

Pack of eight

These large plastic stick-on cable tidies attach to the back side of your appliance to hold a coiled cable, concealing it from view and keeping your counters clear. They are designed specifically with thicker cables in mind.

Targeting cables is one of the easiest ways to reduce visual clutter in a kitchen and, in turn, make a kitchen look more expensive.

'I always say, nothing ruins the illusion of a beautifully styled room faster than a tangled mess of tech cords,' shares Jodi Koch, CEO and Owner of Elizabeth Erin Designs. 'If there's a tangled mess of wires, that's all people are going to notice.'

While there are several ways to hide cords on kitchen counters, none are as effective as tackling the mess at the root. The stick-on cord organizers adhere to the back of your appliance – be it the best non-toxic air fryer or the best stand mixer – allowing for the unused section of the cord to be wrapped up out of the way. The wide design of the cable tidies from Amazon accommodates thick cords without bending the wire too severely, protecting it from damage, too.

They are not limited to kitchen appliances, either. They are perfect for organizing cables around media units, in home offices, or beside the bed to reduce visual clutter in a bedroom and promote better sleep.

What Else to Shop

As a cookware and appliance editor with a tiny kitchen, I understand how difficult it can be to keep work surfaces clear. To help you organize kitchen countertops, I have rounded up a selection of the prettiest and most practical kitchen organizers to help restore order to your home.

Perfect for coffee bars

If you want to bring that café-style coffee home, you will need to pick up some quality syrups and beans. This tiered countertop organizer is a great way to keep these organized, using vertical storage to save space while creating a visual display.

Make space in cabinets

This adjustable OXO organizer helps to keep your cookware neat in cabinets, with a wide base to avoid tipping and moving dividers to accommodate any-sized pan. This can help to free up space for extra storage.

Ideal for smaller cables

Not every cord will come attached to the appliance. For smaller charging cables, consider these silicone wraps to prevent tangles and clutter in drawers.

Add to cabinet space

This free-standing bamboo cabinet is ideal if you need extra enclosed space, but cannot redesign your kitchen or add to your walls. It takes up space along the back of your counter, but keeps clutter concealed to reduce visual noise, and make cleaning easier.

Take storage to walls

In my small home, using vertical storage to save space has been a lifesaver. This magnetic knife rack keeps essential utensils in easy reach, without the need for an unhygienic knife block cluttering the counter. It also helps to free up space in my drawers, and prevents cuts when I reach in for cutlery,

Take power where you need it

For smaller items, it can often be easier to relocate the outlet to prevent trailing cables. This flat outlet cover extension is perfect, reducing visual noise while taking power to where you need it. Be cautious, however, as there are some appliances you should never plug into an extension, as it poses a fire risk.

Of course, a large part of elevating your kitchen comes from the overall design. With that in mind, consider the colors to make your kitchen look more expensive, whether you are redecorating or choosing your next appliance.
