This Hatch sunrise alarm clock has made my mornings easier for the past five years

The jolt of pre-programmed alarm sounds that come with most smartphones is upsetting enough to swear off alarms altogether. After doing an obsessive amount of research on alarm clocks that could make crack-of-dawn wake ups a little more bearable – and even enjoyable – I landed on the Hatch Restore Sunrise Alarm Clock five years ago. Since then, my husband and I have delicately woken up to the sound of birds and wind instruments, better rested than ever before.

Given the Hatch’s viral popularity – it’s now in its third iteration – I’m not the only one who loves it. If you, too, have been looking to do away with an unsightly device on your nightstand that incites more nightmares than sweet dreams, this alarm clock may be for you.
