Just because you consider yourself a true fashion fanatic doesn't mean you embrace every single trend that comes along. Not everybody welcomed the whole Miu Miu-established no pants trend. Or the exposed bra phenomenon. Or all of the Y2K obsessions once again rearing their heads. The same goes for bubble hems, aka balloon hems. Skirts and dresses with the gathered, puffy silhouettes definitely aren't a cinch to pull off. Especially in real life. Now we have bubble hem tops to contend with. Although, as we will lay out, they're actually easier to work into your wardrobe than the bottoms.
In many ways, they're just like any other cropped top. If you're a tad apprehensive about trying out the latest craze, you can just dip your toe in by picking a shirt with a more subtle form of ruching. Some creations are so subdued, it may require a double take to really take in the minimal folds. Then you can graduate to more complex shapes. If you're already training your mind to accept the return of peplums, you'll be able to make the switch in no time.
