This One Piece of Jewelry Is One of the Smartest Investments Any True Fashion Fan Can Make

It's time you bought a real watch. (Credit: Courtesy of Missoni)

Technology has changed our lives in many (wonderful) ways. From smartphones to smartwatches, we can now keep track of everyone and everything, including how many steps we take and who's trying to get a hold of us. With all the advances, some things are naturally left behind. That includes one of our favorite pieces of jewelry, watches.

Sure, you don't need a watch in this day and age, but you should want one. Watches are actually jewelry so they're great for decorating your arm. (Some brands are even placing timepieces on other types of jewelry, like bracelets and earrings.) The arm candy can be layered with a bevy of bracelets or even other timepieces.

Now some people may argue that Apple Watches are pretty trendy. They come with different faces and colorful, interchangeable bands. We wouldn't call them jewelry, though. Besides, they cost a pretty penny. Surprisingly, many classic watches are much more affordable than those heavily favored smartwatches. And you don't need to upgrade them every single year.

Many fashion houses offer their own chic lines of timepieces. We're talking Versace, Fendi, Missoni, Vivienne Westwood, Isabel Marant and Gucci for starters. The price points reflect their designer nature. Gucci's red and gold number rings in at $1,850, while Versace's silver and gold stunner costs $1,227. Some are really a bargain, however. Take Tory Burch's bangle watch that only costs $275. Or Vivienne Westwood's otherworldly option for just $206. Which means you may even be able to splurge on more than one. After all, you have more than one necklace or pair of earrings.

In addition to deciding how much you can spare to shell out, you'll need to figure out the style that best suits your day-to-day needs. Sticking with silver or gold is obviously a safe bet. If you tend to favor gold, go gold. If silver is more your thing, embrace silver silhouettes. Can't decide? Sport both with a mixed metallic creation. Looking for a pop of color? You're in luck because we managed to find shades of green, red, purple, brown and black.

Now that we've convinced you to add watches to your must-buy-for-2024 shopping list, scroll down to see which ones appeal to your overall sense of style.
