This Morning fans had plenty of reason for confusion during the opening episode of the week on the ITV daytime show as they introduced a new presenter.
Usual hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby were not available due to the Bank Holiday (May 2) meaning Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who routinely take the Friday morning slot, were due to replace them for the day.
However, former X Factor host Dermot was nowhere to be seen as Craig Doyle stood alongside Alison in the main presenting role.
Doyle has worked for BBC Sport and ITV Sport during his career and currently anchors BT Sport's Premiership Rugby and European Champions Cup coverage.
This Morning have had several stand-in hosts over the years with Marvin and Rochelle Humes, Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay among others tasked with fronting the popular magazine show.
During the opening segment of the show, Alison excitedly said: "Look who's joining me," with Craig replying with a laugh: "It's me!" Alison continued: "It's only Craig Doyle... How amazing is this? What a treat."
He responded: "I feel like I've stepped into my telly. It's so weird. I love it though. The music, you and the gang here, and just, hi, how are ya? I'm delighted to be here, I really am."
Doyle, who has been a part of the programme's competition segment when in his homeland of Ireland, was making his presenting debut on the show as O'Leary was "taking the day off" and he did not disappoint regular viewers.
One wrote on Twitter : "What a breath of fresh air Craig Doyle was today! Loved him!"
Another added: "I thought #CraigDoyle & @AlisonHammond made a brilliant team & would like to see them present together again. Craig was very natural, relaxed & funny & they bounce off each other well. I think #ThisMorning tries out new presenters. These 2 would work well with anyone & together."
This was not the only surprise of the show, though, as viewers researched the Dublin-born host and found a nugget of information which barely anyone could believe.
A user on Twitter said: "Craig Doyle is looking good for 51. Hardly aged at all in 25 years!"
A second one wrote: "WAIT A MINUTE!!!!! Craig Doyle is 51?!"
