This Morning viewers baffled by Alison Hammond blunder suggesting dead icon's appearance on show

This Morning viewers rushed to social media to comment as they believed Alison Hammond had made a blunder when revealing what was coming up on the latest show.

Fans were left questioning whether she suggested the late George Michael was appearing on the ITV daytime programme on Tuesday (May 23) and not his former Wham bandmate Andrew Ridgeley.

Alison and co-host Dermot O'Leary kicked off their second stint on This Morning of the week with a dance to Wham! hit Club Tropicana. But Dermot, 49, was querying the weather.

"Kick off the summer... It says the weather is getting better but did you feel that this morning?" he asked Alison, 48. "I felt a bit chilly this morning but I think a little bit of Club Tropicana helps."

But as the video for the popular song played out on=-screen while they were chatting, Dermot remarked: "Go Georgie!" as Alison asked: "Is he on the show today?"

Dermot brushed over his co-star's mistake and said: "Andrew Ridgeley... I am so exited. Andre Ridgeley is going to be on the show today. 40 years of Wham! Can you imagine?" As Alison said: "I can't believe it!"

But the mistake didn't go unnoticed by This Morning viewers. @Boppity_Boo34 asked: "Did Alison say have we got George Micheal on the show #ThisMorning." @Borisnose2 tweeted: "George Michael is on the show later! ...... jesus wept Alison. #thismorning."

@a___w89 thought she had misheard as she posted: "When Alison said “is he on the show today” I thought she meant George. I was gonna say surely she knows he’s dead #ThisMorning." @SenorApple2014 said: "Oh, really, Alison? Did you resurrect him from the grave? I’m gonna guess… no. #ThisMorning."
