Phillip Schofield might have left This Morning but he won't be off screen for very long, as ITV have announced two roles for the long-serving presenter, including one in the very near future.
While he has been under considerable pressure this week, as rumours swirled of a feud between him and apparent 'close friend' and colleague Holly Willoughby, it still came as something of a shock when Phillip took to Instagram on Saturday afternoon to announce he'd left This Morning with immediate effect.
Making an announcement to his followers Phillip said: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love."

He added: "So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future."
Something else addressed by Phillip in his exit statement was the fact he will once again host The British Soap Awards next month, a job he's held down for many years now and, responding to Phillip's departure from This Morning, an ITV boss also revealed plans for Phillip to front another primetime show for the channel.
Kevin Lygo, ITV’s Managing Director, Media and Entertainment said: “Phillip is hands down one of the best broadcasters of his generation and we thank him for his two decades worth of absolutely terrific television on the This Morning sofa.
“We look forward to continuing our relationship with Phillip starting with The British Soap Awards in June and a brand new peak time series to come.”
