Phillip Schofield has revealed his controversial request was denied by Buckingham Palace.
The 60-year-old broadcaster fronted Tuesday's edition of the ITV flagship daytime programme alongside Holly Willoughby. The two presented today's show from Buckingham Palace to mark the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
They were joined by Phil Vickery, who took viewers on a tour of Queen Elizabeth's kitchen. Afternoon tea is a staple part of Her Majesty's diet and the chef was told the Queen prefers her scones the Devonshire method with the cream applied first before a topping of jam.

The cream tea debate is a bone of contention as some people prefer to take their scones the Cornish way and apply the jam first. Holly said her co-host "ignited" the debate when he asked if he could have his scones the Cornish method to remain true to his upbringing.
He said: "Because I grew up in Cornwall I'm very much the other way. I'm hoping I don't get anyone into trouble, but this morning I did say is there any way I can have one the other way around with the jam first and then cream on top.
"I was told very politely that was not the Buckingham Palace way."
Phil Vickery added: "When you come here you eat exactly what Her Majesty eats."
