This Morning's Phillip debunks I'm A Celebrity bottom two 'hoax' after second elimination

This Morning host Phillip Schofield has debunked whether the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! bottom two are indeed both the contestants with the fewest votes from the public.

The TV presenter discussed the latest instalment of the ITV reality show alongside co-host Holly Willoughby and former Queen of the Jungle Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo.

The trio sat down to reflect on Scarlette Douglas’s elimination from the jungle, as she became the second star to depart after Charlene White did so last week.

Toff expressed her shock that Scarlette had left and that Babatúndé Aléshé had been in the bottom two alongside her, as hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly made the announcement in the camp on Sunday evening.

However, Holly and Phil were doubtful Babatúndé was in fact in the bottom two as they lifted the lid on ITV’s reality show elimination techniques.

Phil said: “We know that’s not necessarily true. You have the bottom one and then they pick a random person, which is the most controversial.”

Holly looked less certain as she said: “I don’t actually have the answer to this,” before an incredulous Phil pointed out she had hosted the show alongside Dec while Ant took a year off from presenting.

Holly sheepishly said: “I can’t remember. I can never remember anything,” before Phil insisted: “I am pretty sure that it is not the bottom two.”

Toff then said: “One thing is for sure – when someone is in the bottom two and ends up staying, they’re never in the bottom two the next night because I think it gives people a bit of a shock and they start voting for them.”

This came after former A Place In The Sun presenter Scarlette called into Good Morning Britain fresh off the back of her elimination on Sunday night.

After hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly announced she would be leaving the show, the 35-year-old cried and hugged all her campmates before she told the hosts she was devastated to be leaving.

As Scarlette called in to GMB, Susanna exclaimed: “I can’t believe it, Scarlette! You were one of my favourites!”

In the studio fellow presenter Richard Arnold added: “We’re furious! Furious! Congratulations from all of us here.” Susanna’s co-host Richard Madeley said: “You did a cracking job,” before Susanna added: “I wish you weren’t out. I think you’re great, Scarlette.”

When asked who she wanted to win, Scarlette said she is plumping for Babatúndé Aléshé, who also landed in the bottom two alongside her.

She said: “I have no idea who’s going to win it. Everybody is amazing! Of course I want Babatúndé to win because he’s like my brother now.

“But everyone is incredible and none of us can guess it, so I genuinely don’t know who’s going to win. I would love to see Babatúndé win.”
