This Morning presenter Josie Gibson has revealed how she managed to lose five stone in six months a decade ago, then battled through comments made by internet trolls and lockdowns. First appearing on Big Brother in 2010, Josie has gone on to become a well known TV personality and has been open about her struggles with her image.
Following her appearance on the reality show, Josie dropped from a size 20 to a size eight and went on to release a weight loss book and DVD, becoming a weight loss guru for many. In 2016, she documented her tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), which removed the excess skin left over from shedding pounds.
The surgery saw 6lbs and 13 inches of skin removed, but Josie soon became pregnant with her son Reggie. She gradually gained four and a half stone after giving birth and speaking in a video to her Instagram in 2021, the Bristolian revealed how.
She said that stress had caused her to gain weight, made worse by Coronavirus lockdowns, explaining: "How I handle stress is I eat. I've always done it and I went up to a size 18. You just get to the point where you look in the mirror and don't even recognise who you're looking at anymore."
Josie continued: "I have done it [losing weight] much more slowly this time, because I was so militant before. I can't believe I got back up (to that weight) again, I never thought I'd get there, it's really not good on your body. It just creeps up and before you know it you're like 's*** what have I done?'"
How Josie Gibson lost weight
In 2021, Josie tasked herself with new health goals which included improving her sleeping pattern, drinking more water and doing 30-45 minutes of exercise at least three times a week. This was combined with joining WW, formerly Weight Watchers, which sees her avoid 'stodgy food'.
Instead of making big goals, she takes things in small, weekly chunks and is not going sugar free as she did when losing five stone 10 years ago. This time, her goal is not to be "really slim" like before, just healthy and happy.
