This Morning's Josie Gibson blasts rumours of Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond fallout

This Morning star Josie Gibson has fired back at rumours of a backstage fallout between co-presenters Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond.

As well as appearing on the ITV programme as a stand-in presenter, Josie hosts the show's competition segments.

But, following reports of a feud between Alison and Dermot, the mum-of-one has also took the time to stand by her fellow co-stars.

Speaking to New magazine, she said: "Those two are like brother and sister! I don't know what's been written but they really do get on. Dermot worships Alison and Alison loves Dermot.

"She bought him a lovely watch not long ago, and they go round to each other's houses for dinner.

"You don't buy people watches and go round to their house if you don't like them, do you?"

Despite their close bonds, Josie, 37, admitted it's difficult for the This Morning team to catch up out of hours.

She explained: "We're all so busy. We all message each other but it's so busy being at This Morning, and being a working mum, it's difficult to pin everybody down.

"But, luckily, we do get to see each other at work."

Meanwhile, it comes after Alison and Dermot also hit back at the rumours.

Rumours emerged about the co-presenters earlier this month (ITV)

The unlikely duo were thrust together last year when ITV bosses made the decision to axe long-standing husband and wife hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford from Friday episodes of the show.

A source previously told the Daily Mail: “They came from very different backgrounds. Dermot has been a big star for many years and has presented some big shows, while Alison has always wanted a less high-profile career and has far less experience.

“They are impatient with one another, mainly because they do things so differently. It has led to on-set bickering and awkward tensions off-air.”

It was even suggested that the pair ‘wouldn’t be upset’ if there was a line-up shake-up and they got re-coupled with someone else and no longer had to work together.

However, a This Morning spokesman said: “Despite the challenges of starting their on screen partnership during a pandemic, Alison and Dermot have developed a firm friendship and their chemistry has proved a ratings success.

"Since the pandemic ended, the pair are now able to enjoy socialising together post the show and have enjoyed spending time with each other's families too."

Josie shares a close bond with her fellow This Morning stars.

In fact, she and her three-year-old son Reggie even spent Christmas Day with Alison last year.

Speaking about the festivities, Josie said: "Never had a Christmas dinner like it. Best Christmas dinner ever."
