Comedian Johnny Vegas jokingly stormed off This Morning, after a comment made by host Josie Gibson. On Tuesday, July 9, he joined Josie and co-host Craig Doyle to discuss his Channel 4 TV show, Carry On Glamping. The episode was somewhat of a mixture of emotions for Josie, who was earlier seen wiping a tear from her eye as she discussed the tragic death of Olivia Newton-John. You can read more about that here.
Of his TV show, Johnny said: "I think it was genuine, everything about it was, 'this is how it goes.'" He added: "We always said, 'I don't want to do the show that, because you're on telly, everything works out for you'. It doesn't, you know, and it's not meant to, it's life isn't it?"
Josie then bluntly replied: "It certainly doesn't for you," and Johnny looked taken aback by her comment. "Thanks. I'll just walk off and cry now," he said before standing up, walking off and singing: "All by myself..."
As he began to walk away, a hysterical Josie apologised as Craig began to highlight other examples of when her comments had got her into trouble, earlier in the week. "Best thing I've ever heard in an interview," said Johnny as he sat back down and the presenter squealed: "I'm so sorry!"
"Up until that point, he was feeling pretty good about himself, look what you've done," Craig teased Josie. Meanwhile, Johnny said: "I obviously disgust you... my very existence."
Viewers of the ITV show soon turned to social media to share their thoughts on the moment. One person said: "I saw the camping thing with Johnny Vegas yonks ago, but seeing Josie laugh like that was worth it." Elsewhere, someone commented: "Telly is always funnier when Johnny Vegas is on." Meanwhile, a third wrote: "Johnny Vegas always manages to de-rail an interview."
Josie's co-hosting with Craig has previously received praise, which you can read about here.
This Morning airs on ITV on weekdays at 10am
