A money-saving mum has revealed how she managed to save £500 by making a subtle change to her laundry routine.
Appearing on This Morning, coupon Queen Holly Smith shared her simple but helpful trick with hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.
Holly - who is founder of the largest Facebook Money Saving Group in the world - shared how a switch from laundry detergent and fabric softener to a cheaper product has saved her a huge sum of money in the last four years.
The mum-of-four says she now swears by using the ecoegg, which is a replacement for both products and is essentially a plastic-filled egg with pellets.
The egg, which the busy mum describes as her 'personal favourite' money-saving tip, costs £8 to buy the first time and and provides 70 washes. Holly explained it's just £4 for a refill after that and gives you 50 washes.
"I was calculating this earlier and since I started using this in 2018, I've managed to save over £500. I've got four kids so I'm constantly washing over and over," she told the presenters.
She continued: "So basically it's a little plastic egg and it's got pellets inside - the first one costs £8 and it's a replacement for laundry detergent and fabric softener in one.
"You know when you just throw a liquid tab into the washing machine, well you just throw that in, that's all you need and that will last 70 washes."
Speaking about how good it is at getting the job done, Holly added: "It's brilliant, I've got two children under two and you know that little bit of sick up, or you just chuck something in, you know what it's like, I don't want to put a full load on, whack one of them in, they are amazing."
After making her appearance on the daytime show to talk about the egg, the brand were delighted and took to Twitter.
The official account wrote: "We were delighted to be featured on @thismorning by @hollyvlogs, the queen of money saving! Holly talks about 10 ways to save money and the ecoegg Laundry Egg is one of them."
