A TikToker has gone viral after complaining about DoorDash and UberEats on TikTok. Her reason? Drivers are using female names, only to show up and be revealed to be very much not a female.
In the clip, which has amassed 239,200 views, Lana (@kdotfan727) said: “Let me just say this right now: if I order DoorDash, right, if I order a UberEats, and the profile picture and the name is something like ‘Emma’ and it’s a woman, and when I get my food I see a man coming out with my food, I am immediately removing my tip and giving you a one-star rating.”
She continued, “I don’t give a [expletive] at all. I don’t care if it’s your girlfriend’s DoorDash and you’re bringing the food. I feel incredibly unsafe. I’m sorry. If I have an Uber or DoorDash, and the person is supposed to be a woman, and I see a man come out, you’re [expletive] weird.”
In the video description, she added, “This just [expletive] me off so bad.”
Lana didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment and email. We reached out to Uber and DoorDash via email.

What did commenters say?
Some commenters were on the same page as Lana.
“WHY WOULD SOMEONE EVEN DO THIS HELLO?” one exclaimed. “REPORTED every time,” a second wrote. While a third added, “I call and report them for profile fraud lol because why would a man be there when Stephanie just picked my order up and she’s on the way?”
However, others argued that there could be a valid reason for this. “Ironic that it’s sometimes the girl driving and her BF dropping it off cause she doesn’t feel safe,” a fourth pointed out. “Just an endless feedback loop.”
“You do realize that ppl bring their partners with them bc they feel unsafe too?” a fifth asked.
While a sixth reasoned, “What if it’s their daughter or girlfriend/wife? lots of people have pfps of people they love.”
Why do men use women’s names on DoorDash and UberEats?
Anecdotally, multiple Reddit users shared that they had encountered the same issue on DoorDash specifically, with one asking, “Is there any explanation that isn’t nefarious for a man to Dash under a woman’s name?”
In these Reddit posts, it is noted that Dashers often use other people’s accounts because they don’t have a clean record, though one Redditor explained that he and his wife shared an account to make extra income.
Nonetheless, the issue seemed to be a common one, with another Redditor writing, “This happens to me a lot, it will be a feminine name like ‘Sasha’ or ‘Angela.’ Then the Dasher ends up being a grown middle aged man.”
“Oddly enough it’s never the other way around,” they added. “I never see masculine names that end up being a woman.”
According to the DoorDash website, drivers are not permitted to impersonate other people. The same goes for UberEats drivers, with Uber requiring delivery drivers to have some form of government-issued ID. However, based on this TikTok and recent Reddit posts, it seems like this is not enough to deter some Dashers and drivers from finding loopholes.
