This is the best time to go to the beach for the perfect trip

A trip to the beach is an easy escape during the summer.

And besides the travel costs, it is free. You can go and enjoy Merseyside's glorious coastline and it doesn't have to cost you a penny. And with the summer holidays fast approaching I thought I would make my case for evening beach trips.

For me, an evening trip is the absolute best time to go and enjoy the sand, sun and sea. Often it is quieter, with many packing up as you are arriving.

The sun is not as intense, but still has that lovely warm glow. Which brings me to the bonus of the sunsets - you don't get the stunning orange and pink skies at noon.

And of course the golden hour light from the sun in the evening is perfect for beautiful pictures. It is also a wonderful, relaxing way to end your day.

But what about the kids' bedtimes? Well, to be fully honest, at a weekend in summer or during the holidays, bedtimes are all over the place anyway, so I have no issue with my three-year-old staying up to walk in the sea, hand in hand with me as the stunning sunset rays reach out across the waves as we point out shells till the sky fades to deep purple.

Or what about mornings, surely they are just as quiet? Perhaps, but the mornings can sometimes have a sharp chill to the air before the sun heats up.

That being said, my number one tip for an evening beach trip would be even though when you leave it might be super hot, pack a warm jacket and even a blanket. It can get quite chilly when the sun settles itself over the horizon.

I would also always still wear sun cream and have a fully charged phone because I am a 'just in case' kind of person. Now that I have converted to evening beach life, I can never go back to the queues, noise and heat of any other time.

And I am not worried about sharing my secret, Merseyside is full of incredible beaches, there is plenty to share so we can all relax in the sunset in peace.
