MP Rupert Lowe has criticised changing demographic trends in England and Wales after new official figures showed “Muhammad” was the most popular name given to baby boys for the third consecutive year.

The reaction came after the Office for National Statistics (ONS) released its annual list of baby names for 2025, showing Muhammad retained the top spot for boys, while Olivia remained the most popular girls' name for the 10th year in a row.

Responding to the figures in a post on X, Lowe linked the rankings to what he described as changing demographics in the UK.
