Sometimes, all a place needs is a catchy name. In the last few years, the Athenian Riviera has become shorthand for the beaches outside of Athens, and with it has come the glam crowd (and a superyacht or two).
As a destination, it is a crowd pleaser. It will satisfy the practical members of the group (direct flights to Athens, half an hour from the airport), the culture vultures (easy access to the city), and those who like to spend their holidays horizontal by a body of water.
