Cheap Chinese powersports vehicles from Amazon and Temu are fun and easy ways to get in on some serious off-road fun—just don’t expect them to last. But you know what they’re also good for? Some crazy custom builds.
We’ve talked about tons upon tons of knockoff bikes, ATVs, and UTVs used as platforms for some seriously insane builds, with some sketchier than others. And what we have here today is indeed sketchy, but it at least looks like it’s being built by a dude who knows what he’s doing.
Those of you familiar with YouTube channel Vasily Builds would know that this guy makes some of the most insane vehicles on the internet. And his latest project is no exception, as he took a cheap Chinese quad and decided that it would be a good idea to transform it into a UTV with some serious suspension articulation.
And while most side-by-sides are powered by modest twin- or three-cylinder engines, Vasily decided that the best engine to go into this build would be none other than the 1,340cc inline-four screamer found in the Suzuki Hayabusa. That’s right, another Hayabusa swap. This makes me wonder—how many crashed Hayabusas must there be for folks to be able to snap up these engines left and right?
Whatever the case may be, I can’t wait to hear this thing roar to life and see it in action. And it’s clear that tons of fab work had to be done to make this thing capable not only of handling all that power, but also doing what you’d expect a 200-horsepower UTV to do.
Vasily clearly put a lot of work into beefing this thing’s frame up, as well as giving it the suspension articulation it needs to do trophy truck stuff. And quite frankly, this thing looks insane, and actually very professionally built. You can see all the work that went into it in Vasily’s 30-minute video.
That said, given just how well-built this thing is, I wouldn’t be surprised if this Hayabusa-swapped monstrosity would turn out to be more than just a mini trophy truck. Heck, given how much power it’s pumping as well as how capable its wheel, tire, and suspension setup is, I think this thing would be a capable adventure vehicle too. You know, strap on your gear and camping equipment, get lost in the wilderness, and tackle some serious off-road terrain while you’re at it.
Needless to say, if I was offered the chance to take this thing for a spin, you can bet that I’d be all for it. What about you? Would you risk life and limb and rip the trails aboard this thing?
