PRAYAGRAJ: At a time when denizens of the Sangam city spread the message of conserving environment by installing eco-friendly idols of lord Ganesha along with immersing the same in an innovative ways, aimed at not to harm the water bodies, the former head of the department of Education of Allahabad University, Prof P K Sahoo, has been trying to send the message of protecting environment by his self-made idol of Ganapati for the past over 50 years.
He along with his family members and students makes man sized sitting posture idols of Ganesha using paper pulp, clay, jute, cloth etc and uses only homemade natural colours to paint, barring the chemical for giving the last shine to the idol.
