An occasion that brings family and friends together over the long weekend, Easter calls for some good food and wine. While the Sunday roast and Easter eggs might take centre stage, a well-chosen bottle of wine is just as likely to impress your guests.
If you’re after a standout Easter aperitif, Tesco’s Finest English sparkling wine is well worth considering. Produced using hand-harvested grapes from Kent and crafted by the award winning Balfour winery, it earned high praise from wine consultant Libby Brodie. She singled it out as one of the best sparkling wines to buy in the supermarket, comparing it to champagne but without the hefty price tag.
Even better, the bottle is included in the Tesco wine deal for Easter where if you pick up six bottles or more, you’ll receive 25 per cent off when using a Clubcard.

Tesco English sparkling wine

“I am all for championing English sparkling wine and Tesco’s Finest [bottle] is great value, especially as it’s created at award-winning Balfour Estate in Kent by one of the loveliest winemakers, Fergus Elias,” says qualified wine expert, Libby Brodie.
The English sparkling wine is made from a blend of chardonnay, pinot meunier and pinot noir grapes, which Brodie compares to its popular French counterpart. “The same grapes as champagne, it has whispers of shortbread and hazelnut alongside glorious English green apples and fun fizz,” she says in our guide to the best supermarket sparkling wine.
