This Cannabis Executive Survived Childhood Leukemia, Now He's Donating $250k To Help Improve Pediatric Cancer Treatment Options

Cancer Leukemia Gateway Cresco Labs

Seeking to help researchers find a new treatment approach for children fighting cancer recurrence, cannabis industry pioneer Joe Caltabiano, co-founder of Cresco Labs (OTC: CRLBF) and founder of JSC Fund, a family office seeking opportunities in regulated markets including cannabis, has made a $250,000 donation to Gateway for Cancer ResearchSM (Gateway), a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding transformational early-phase cancer research.

A survivor of childhood cancer, Caltabiano was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow, when he was just seven years old. He has cited the diagnosis as being one of the most profound moments of his life, as well as a motivating factor for his work in the cannabis industry. A Gateway Board member since 2016, Caltabiano has made finding a cure for cancer one of his life’s goals.
