This cafe is offering free meals for kids every week night even if the adults don't buy anything

A cafe in Mumbles has decided to offer free children's meals every weekday evening this month - no questions asked. Unlike many restaurants which offer 'kids eat free' meals if an adult with them makes a purchase, parents and guardians won't have to buy anything in order to get a free dinner for their youngsters at Beach Hut Cafe at Mumbles Pier.

The free meals are available for children up to the age of 12, Mondays to Fridays, throughout June from 4pm and have been introduced to help support parents facing increasing costs of living - and to give them a break from cooking, if they need it.

Announcing the deal on the Mumbles Pier Facebook page, cafe staff said: "We’ve all had that ‘after school can’t be bothered to cook feeling! Well, we’ve got your back for the month of June we are offering FREE kids meals Monday to Friday after 4pm in our Beach Hut Cafe. It’s as simple as that! No catch. No purchase necessary. No adult meal required. Just making those couple of hours between school ending and bedtime that little bit easier!" General manager at Mumbles Pier, Hannah Hunter, said: "We are so pleased with the excellent response we have received from this offer. We’ve introduced this in response to a number of different factors really, we are very conscious of the cost of living rises that we are all facing. With this in mind we wanted to introduce something that could alleviate some of this burden whilst ensuring families can still enjoy time together at Mumbles Pier!

"As a company focused on families and with many of our staff and myself with young families we often see the old ‘kids eat free’ offering - however, when getting there you realise actually kids eat free if you buy this or do that or pay a tenner for an adult meal - which, although is a good offer, it isn’t really helping contribute to a budget-friendly family day out.

"So we wanted to stand out, be different and help and that's when we came up with ‘Kids. Eat. Free. No catch.’ The kind of food you can expect is what you can always expect at our Beach Hut Cafe, classic kiddie meals Sausage and Mash, Pasta, Chicken Nuggets and Chips all freshly made and delicious! Many people have said we’re absolutely mad in putting on such a crazy offer!

"In addition, as a working mum I know only too well that feeling when you just cant be bothered to cook, and the hours between the school pick up and bed time can feel like years! So introducing this offer will help all the other hardworking parents out there," Hannah added. You can read more stories about Mumbles here.

One mum delighted with the offer is Emily Brew, 42. Emily, who lives in Penllergaer, loves taking her three-year-old daughter Hati to Mumbles Pier and spending time with friends and their families there. Lidl has introduced a new label to help those struggling to buy food - you can read more about that here.

She said: "The Free Kids Meal offer is huge! We've always loved going to Mumbles Pier for their events, but now they're offering something even bigger. Hannah, the manager, just seems to want to give back to the community. There's no catch for the free meals! I've been telling all my friends about it, it's brilliant!"

"With everything going on in the economy, it's a big thing to offer free meals for children, especially when adults don't even have to buy anything. We love Mumbles Pier, you've got lots of events, the bowling alley upstairs, the arcade, it's lovely."
