This All-Pink Wuthering Heights Bedroom Is A Window Into Cathy's Inner World – and It's Available For Free on Airbnb

A splitscreen image with a pink bedroom on either side, one with a table and chairs and the other with a bed.

'Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same,' Cathy Earnshaw, the protagonist of Emily Brontë's Gothic novel, Wuthering Heights, famously declared of her love interest, Heathcliff. If we had to visualize Cathy's soul, however, it might look something like this all-pink bedroom.

The upcoming release of Emerald Fennell's new film is bringing Brontë's iconic love story to the big screen and back into the cultural zeitgeist. Glimpses of the sets and costumes indicate the film's visual language is striking and surreal, like a romantic fever dream. Cathy's bedroom from the film is the perfect representation of this style (plus it's a masterclass in decorating with pink). Reportedly taking influence from Margot Robbie's actual skin, the space represents Cathy's intensity and feels almost saturated with her presence.

Though we have to wait until the February 13 release to see the bedroom in the film, Airbnb has built a nearly-identical recreation of the Thrushcross Grange space in West Yorkshire. Lucky for all literary buffs, that means you have the chance to actually stay in Cathy's bedroom. The room will be available for three stays for up to two guests each between 27 February and 4 March, completely for free.

The stay takes fans inside the visual world of the upcoming Wuthering Heights film, including a horseback ride across the moorlands, a Yorkshire afternoon tea, a Thrushcross Grange dinner, a Charli xcx listening party, an eggs and soldiers breakfast, and a visit to the real-life Brontë Parsonage.

However, as interiors aficionados, we're still most excited by the opportunity to stay overnight in Cathy's bedroom and explore its blush pink design. Here's a preview of all the little design details that caught our eye as interiors editors.

First of all, we're obsessed with the fuzzy vanity. The shape and gold leaf accents take inspiration from the grandeur of Gothic interior design, but then the color instantly makes it feel whimsical and otherworldly. Its fuzzy texture turns the furnishing almost into a creature, contributing to the strange universe that defines the film.

It reminds me of something that you might see in one of my favorite films, Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette (which also inspired Kirsten Dunst's home, by the way). This makes me excited to see how the interiors of the upcoming film serve as a living, breathing character in this new take on the enchanting story.

We've already touched on it, but the color-drenched nature of Cathy's room is what further makes it stand out. Using a single color for the walls and ceiling makes the room appear infinite and offers a healthy dose of the given tone. Blush pink has been especially popular this year, appearing in many of the chicest homes we've covered, from Anna Maxwell-Martin to Reese Witherspoon.

Interior designers are always telling us that if you want to make a room come alive, add texture. This adage gets a literal spin in Cathy's bedroom, where the faux hair under the table adds a creepy, deeply personal spin. The use of a range of textures it he key to why this monochromatic room never feels boring.

As in any home, period details make Airbnb's design feel like more than a set. The moulding above the fireplace and the phonograph turn Cathy's room into a living space that we'd love the pleasure of existing in.

As the (potentially) biggest film release of the year, we're interested to see how the Wuthering Heights aesthetic will influence our design going forward. If Cathy's beautiful bedroom is anything to go by, it's going to be stunning.
