Third man arrested in connection with death of Glasgow grandad Brian Maley

A third person has been arrested in connection with the death of Glasgow man Brian Maley.

The 52-year-old’s body was discovered on Tuesday, February 8, inside his Young Terrace home in the Springburn area of the city.

Police later launched a murder investigation following the results of post mortem.

Following a police operation in Falkirk earlier today, a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the death.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Maria Gardiner and James Houston appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court this afternoon charged with murdering Brian.

They made no plea.

Gardiner , 45, and Houston , 33, were remanded in custody with the case fully committed for further examination.

They are due to reappear within eight days

The pair, from Glasgow, also face charges of attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Grainger, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, earlier said: “Our thoughts remain with Brian’s family at what continues to be a difficult time for them.

“I would also like to thank the local community for their patience, help and assistance during our investigation and to those who came forward with information."
