'Thinks he's Ederson' - Man City fans fume over Zack Steffen howler in FA Cup vs Liverpool FC

Manchester City supporters have directed their anger at goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who made a huge mistake against Liverpool in their FA Cup semi-final clash at Wembley.

The USA international was charged down by Sadio Mane after hesitating too long on the ball, allowing the Reds attacker to tackle the ball into the net to put his side 2-0 up. Steffen has tended to be City’s cup goalkeeper and Pep Guardiola entrusted him with the gloves again on Saturday.

But many City fans were left wishing he hadn’t after producing a moment he will want to forget in a hurry. The American was starting his ninth game of the season.

Taking to Twitter, hoards of fans expressed their disappointment at Steffen. Some even suggested that they want him to be taken off their club's books.

@jbezzym: Zack Steffen is useless conversation over.

@mcfc_fanatic: Steffen thinks he’s Ederson, kick the ball bud.

@LawyerJacob1: Steffen needs to get sold. Ridiculous this.

@Harri_Burton: Don’t care. Take Steffen off. Shouldn’t be allowed to get away with that, a little pat on the back. Fuming. Ederson should’ve started.

@KangarooAdz_: I don’t wanna see Steffen in a city kit again.

Meanwhile, City fans were not pleased with the way they conceded their first goal either. Nathan Ake, who was chosen ahead of Aymeric Laporte, was out-jumped by Ibrahima Konate from a corner after nine minutes to hand Liverpool a dream start.

@chiefmessiah: We looked clueless positionally from that corner.

@desi_guardiola : Ake is so overrated man, he can't jump.

@justdoi52693783: Sterling, Ake, Zinchenko, Fernandinho… we have no chance.

@harshkdb17: Ake got bodied by Konate there tbh.
