Things to do with the kids in Co Fermanagh this summer

We are getting towards that time of year again, or in some cases we are already there.

Another school year done and dusted and the thought of school uniforms and early rises for the kids appears to be a long way away.

For many in the Co Fermanagh area wondering how to keep everyone occupied over the summer months, luckily there is plenty on to keep them busy around the county.

We've compiled this list of all the family friendly events and activities that the kids can get up to over the holidays.

Hooley on the Pitch Family Fun Day, Derrygonnelly, Sunday 2 July

All roads lead to Derrygonnelly in Fermanagh this month as Derrygonnelly Harps GFC hosts one of the biggest events ever held in the village

School’s out for summer, so kids will love the jam-packed FAMILY FUN DAY taking place on Sunday 2 July from 2pm, with face-painting, barbeque, ice-cream van, live music and special guests The Party Bees who will provide a plethora of fun-filled activities including party games, kids disco and the chance for kids to meet some of their favourite characters!

Open Air Theatre: The Secret Garden, 4 July

Picnic with friends and family and enjoy this enchanting story, loved by children and adults alike. Relive this tale of secrecy and curiosity in what will be one of the highlights of the summer.

The Secret Garden will be performed in the grounds of Enniskillen Castle, a stunning open-air venue for a wonderful evening of theatre under the stars.

Lady of the Lake, Irvinestown 7 - 16 July

The Lady of the Lake Festival is a Summer Event which takes place every July in Irvinestown. Folklore has it that the legendary lady walked amongst the mists & islands of Lough Erne bringing a sign of good times ahead.

The ten day festival will see plenty of activities around the lough with a crowning of the new 'Lady of the Lake' to take place as well.

Paddle and Art Week, 17-21 July

Paddlesports and Art Week - a small group, fun course with plenty of different adventurous paddle-sport sessions throughout the week with nature art activities included each day.

Monday 17th to Friday 21st July, 9:30am-3pm. Broadmeadow, Enniskillen. AGE 7-11yrs

Hats off to Forthill, 28 July

Enniskillen's iconic park will see an afternoon of traditional games, music from the bandstand, traditional crafts, balloon-modelling, hula-hooping, and a few surprises.

Cole’s Monument will be open affording you the opportunity to see Galbraith Lowry Cole up close.

Fermanagh Show, 11 and 12 August

Fermanagh County Show will have a new home in 2023.

The two-day event will be staged at Castle Irvine, Necarne, near Irvinestown with new weekend dates of Friday and Saturday, 11th and 12th August.

Erne Paddlers Explorer Adventure Summer Week, 21 to 25 August

A small group, coached week of adventurous paddlesport day trips for 11 to 16 year olds, leading towards the Paddle Explore Award and Leave No Trace Awareness Training.

The week will provide the opportunity for the young people to make new friends, learn new journeying and paddlesports skills and develop their interpersonal skills. Facilitated by professional, qualified and experienced paddlesport coaches with a passion for both the outdoors and young people's development.

Erne Paddlers Summer Camps - July and August

These summer camps will run from the week starting Monday 3 July from the Lakeland Forum Canoe Steps.

This will be a small group, fun course with plenty of different adventurous paddle-sport activities throughout the week. With quality coaching and learning through fun “games with aims”, lead by friendly, experienced and qualified coaches who have a genuine passion for canoeing, outdoor education and child development.

Summer Splash - July and August

Blue Green Yonder is running this action packed week of activities and will be sure to leave them wanting to come back for more.

Activities includes, land and water based games, team building, archery, canoeing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding to name a few. Suitable for 7-15year olds.

Become at Junior Ranger at the Marble Arch Caves - July and August

The Marble Arch Caves Junior Ranger program is activity-based, designed to engage children (6yrs – 11yrs old) in the natural world around the Marble Arch Caves.

They will learn about woodlands, trees, caves, local wildlife, and how they can help protect them. Marble Arch Caves Ranger, Kate, will join twenty children who will participate in a series of outdoor activities and experience aspects of her work. At the end of their experience, the children are sworn in as Junior Rangers and will receive an official Junior Ranger certificate.

Fermanagh Fun Farm, Lisbellaw

An animal fun farm in Co Fermanagh is proving to be a hit among the herd of visitors arriving from far and wide.

Fermanagh Fun Farm in Lisbellaw is a social enterprise with more than 150 animals living on the farm, including ponies, ducks, alpacas and meerkats.

Kesh Carnival, 12 to 20 August

The annual Kesh Community Carnival is a popular week long event in the Co Fermanagh town, with the highlights often including 'sheep racing' and a 'duck derby' through the main street in Kesh.

Share Discovery Village

One of the most popular local activity centres throughout the county, the Share centre is located outside Lisnaskea and has a range of activities for kids, families and groups.

This summer sees the return of the centre’s inflatable water park, with the park open every day throughout July and August.
