Dean Young has sidestepped a question about his long-term plans for Dan Atkinson as the lukewarm recruit prepares to face off with the man who could replace him in St George Illawarra's starting side.

Underwhelming since arriving from Cronulla this year, Atkinson goes head to head with rival five-eighth Kodi Nikorima in Friday's NRL clash with the Dolphins.
