Thilo Kehrer sets West Ham goal as German defender completes transfer from Paris Saint-Germain

Thilo Kehrer has become West Ham United’s sixth summer signing after completing a transfer from Paris Saint-Germain.

The German international has signed a four-year contract, with a club option for two further years, after a £10.1million fee was agreed with the French side.

A number of European clubs were said to be keen to sign the defender, including Sevilla, but the three-time Ligue 1 winner has set his sights in making an impact in the Premier League.

“I’m very excited to sign for West Ham United. This is the best league in the world and I’m excited about coming to play in the Premier League,” said Kehrer.

“I talked to the manager and he told me about how he sees me fitting in at the club. My biggest goal now is to get into the team, integrate myself within the group and enjoy playing for West Ham.”

Kehrer arrival comes at a time where the Hammers are in the middle of an injury crisis at centre-back. Angelo Ogbonna, Craig Dawson and summer signing Nayef Aguerd are out injured, whereas Issa Diop left the club last week to join London rivals Fulham.

West Ham boss David Moyes is pleased to add more depth to his squad with a sixth summer signing after deals for Aguerd, French goalkeeper Alphonse Areola, Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca, Burnley’s Maxwel Cornet and midfielder Flynn Downes were completed earlier in the transfer window.
