Thiago Silva sends cheeky jibe to PSG before Chelsea vs Real Madrid in Champions League

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva have made a sly dig at his former employers Paris Saint-Germain ahead of Chelsea's Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid.

Silva, 37, is preparing with the rest of the team for a big night in his ever-glistening career as he aims to help manager Thomas Tuchel win back-to-back Champions League titles. If they are to achieve that feat, all Chelsea defenders need to ensure that they put in a better shift than they showed at the weekend against Brentford. A performance that caused his wife Belle Silva to come out in a fiery mood after comments from a certain commentator enraged the Silva household.

She took to her Instagram account @bellesilva: 'I'm here in my box at Stamford Bridge. I just listened back to the commentary right now and what the commentator said. "'Thiago is not attacking enough.' Respect him, please. Thiago Silva arrived yesterday as he played for Brazil. Thiago Silva is very tired, and he's 37-years-old. He's played since he was 20-years-old so respect to him- he's not a machine, he's human, so he needs to relax, alright."

But after a poor performance against West Brom at the same time last season, the veteran came out firing with the rest of the squad as the Blues responded in style against Porto. The evening before the big game, the defender has had a cheeky dig at a wounded PSG side who he knows very well from his eight-year stay in the French capital.

Mauricio Pochettino's side were knocked out by Los Blancos after letting a 1-0 first leg lead slip, and with their quest to win the trophy with the big ears ongoing after bucket loads of investment, Silva couldn't resist aiming a cheeky jibe at his former employers.

“It's an incredible, unimaginable elimination for us who are PSG supporters. Every year it's the same thing, I think there are things to watch and improve," he told L'Equipe. “Even if PSG has a lot of money, that's not what wins titles."
