Chelsea were stunned by Brentford who won 4-1 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and Thiago Silva 's wife has hit back following criticism aimed at her husband.
The Blues' run of six straight wins in all competitions came to an abrupt end as Brentford took a major step towards Premier League safety with one of the biggest wins in their history. And they were well deserved of it too, as they humiliated their London rivals.
Thomas Tuchel opted for a back-four to start as opposed to his usual back-five formation, and it had worked up until the second half. Veteran defender Silva began to receive criticism from the Chelsea faithful, which wasn't well received by his wife.
Belle Silva was in attendance for the 4-1 thrashing at Stamford Bridge, and her husband started the game despite flying back late last week as he was away during the international break with Brazil. Silva is as experienced as anyone, but his age did show against an energetic Brentford side.
The likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney caused him all sorts of problems, but Silva was also being jeered by the crowd for not 'attacking enough', which maybe wasn't helped by Antonio Rudiger's wonder-strike. But his wife was quick to bite back as she took to Instagram to address the critics.
She ranted on her Instagram account : "I'm here in my box at Stamford Bridge. I just listened back to the commentary right now and what the commentator said. 'Thiago is not attacking enough.'
"Respect him, please. Thiago Silva arrived yesterday as he played for Brazil. Thiago Silva is very tired, and he's 37-years-old. He's played since he was 20-years-old so respect to him- he's not a machine, he's human, so he needs to relax, alright."
The rant received a lot of backing online, showing that some views inside the stadium were certainly not shared outside, but it wasn't just Silva's fault that Chelsea were turned over. Tuchel was stunned at the full-time whistle, and couldn't quite put his finger on what went wrong in his post-match press-conference.
The Chelsea boss said: "You don't need to lose as a consequence. I am aware of it, and I am aware that my expectations were not too high about this match from the start.

"It is difficult after an international break to play as the favourite, to dictate the match and break down a difficult and well-organised team. They are a very physical team. It makes things very difficult.
"I agree if we conceded the first goal and second one and could never catch up, but we were in the lead and in charge. I didn't see it coming. I felt us getting better and better. I felt that we deserved the first goal, got a beautiful first goal, and I don't know why the next 10 minutes cost us the game."
Chelsea will now be looking over their shoulder as Arsenal can move within two points of the Blues should they beat fellow London side Crystal Palace on Monday. A place in the top four is surely likely for Chelsea, but they will be keen to get back to winning ways next week.
