Shimizu S Pulse striker Thiago Santos Santana is reportedly being "tracked" by Celtic this month as the club ramp up their search for a successor to Giorgios Giakoumakis.
The towering Greek frontman is moving closer to the Parkhead exit door with reports suggesting he is set to jet out to Japan to undergo a medical before penning a bumper contract with Urawa Red Diamonds, while Sampdoria also hold an interest in the 28-year-old after contract talks with Celtic stalled. Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors star Cho Gue-sung had been expected to arrive in the Scottish Premiership but a deal now appears to be off, the the South Korea cap set to remain in the K-League.
Japanese outlet Sponichi report that Brazilian Santana is next on Ange Postecoglou's wishlist this month, who finished top scorer in the J-League last term. The 29-year-old made the move to Japan after having spent four seasons in Portugal with Setubal and Santa Clara.
The report also claims Celtic may look to add his teammate Yuito Suzuki. The winger has previously been touted with a move to Glasgow's east end, with reports suggesting Club Brugge are also weighing up a move.
