Former West Ham captain Nigel Reo-Coker has praised Liverpool's transfer policy after letting Sadio Mane leave for Bayern Munich in a deal that could be worth £35 million, if add-ons are met.
The Senegal international spent the last six yers on Merseyside after moving from Southampton for £30m in 2016. Mane was a key part to a side that won every major honour within English football and his dream came true this year when he lifted the Africa Cup of Nations with his country.
Mane made his wishes known to Liverpool that he wanted to embark on a new challenge within football shortly after the Champions League final loss to Real Madrid. With his heart set on Bayern and just a year remaining on his contract at Anfield, the Reds recruited Darwin Nunez as his replacement.

When speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast, Reo-Coker said: “He [Sadio Mane] took Liverpool to another level and clearly it is a big loss. But they are always planning ahead and have got the structure and pieces in place to deal with departures.
“From a business perspective, it’s the right time to sell Mane. Other clubs play hardball over players and then lose them on free transfers a year later. I think they could learn from how Liverpool know when to let go of their players.”
