The film director's 2013 hit, Her, imagined a word in which people form emotional bonds with AI – a world which, in the age of ChatGPT et al, doesn't feel quite so futuristic. When I attended Figma's Config conference in San Francisco last year, I was surprised to hear Jonze wax lyrical about Marvy Uchida's range of LePen pens. These fine-tipped pens come in a delightful array of colours, and most importantly, they're cheap. I've been using them for years, but this was the first time I'd heard anybody, let alone one of my favourite film directors, mention them.
