The 2023 NFL draft is on our doorstep.
The Kansas City Chiefs will look to add players at positions of need throughout the event, but those needs might not be so obvious without added context. Brett Veach won’t just be drafting with the immediate future in the 2023 NFL season in mind, but the team’s long-term future as well.
While there are some pertinent roster holes to fill in 2023, the Chiefs have quite a few key free agents coming up in 2024. Here’s the full list of the team’s 16 pending unrestricted free agents after next season:
DT Chris Jones
CB L'Jarius Sneed
RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire*
*The Chiefs have until Monday, May 1 to pick up Edwards-Helaire’s fifth-year option. If they pick up his option year, he’ll no longer be a free agent in 2024.
